AUTHORITY BUILDING & SOCIAL MEDIA
WHY?
One of the main aspects of Persuasive Selling is Authority Building. People buy from people they like and trust, so building your authority will help tremendously when selling your product and/or services.
Why should you be online and on social media? Very simply, because your future customers are there!
Did you know that (at the time of writing):
- LinkedIn has 766 million users in more than 200 countries across the globe, with more than 300 million monthly active users
- Facebook has 60 billion monthly active users... and 1.73 billion users are visiting FB on a daily basis
- Instagram has over 1 billion monthly active users, of which +500 million on a daily basis
- Twitter has 330 million monthly active users and 500 million tweets are posted every single day (apparently 23% of internet users are on Twitter!)
So, no matter who your ICA is, they will be online on one or multiple platforms and you’d be missing out if you’re not there with them. You can be sure your competitor will be!
HOW?
You want to focus on the platform where your ICA spends the most time on.
That being said. If you have other social media accounts for your business, you don't want to leave them empty, so make sure to maintain the other social media/networking platforms at the same time as well (e.g. post on several platforms to build authority and to be the ‘go to’ for your ICA).
For any of the social media or networking platforms that you use, make sure that all relevant information is on your profile. Your profile is the first thing your potential customers/clients will see, so ensure that they can find the relevant information on there. First impressions count!
Nothing is more off putting to a prospect, than an empty or half completed profile with little or no information on it.
Not all information is equal, so you want to make sure that you include the right info on your social media and website.
You want to optimize every point of contact with your potential client.
This means making sure you speak their language, that your different platforms and website are aligned and that you push the right buttons (pain points/solution), so they want to reach out to you.
